The club is a non profit making and non tax paying because it returns all the income to its members in the form of low training costs and aircraft hire.
The following prices are subject to change due to running cost variations and variations due to differing abilities.
Introductory Lesson $85
A 45 minute aviation experience including:
- A preflight inspection of the aircraft, see the working components
- A 25 minute flight with you in the pilots seat, at the controls, under the guidance of an instructor
Average Training Lesson $120
A one and a half hour aviation experience including
- All necessary pre-flight briefings and de-briefings with our flight instructor
- Aircraft preflight
- A 40 minute flight covering the items mentioned in the briefing
Typical Cost up to Your First Solo $1,800 - $2,200
This is your first and most challenging goal, as on completion you will have flown the aircraft by yourself. A memory you will keep for a lifetime. Cost of a Private Pilots Licence, medical not included, varies depending how often you fly and you flying ability. The current charge out rate for the training aircraft is $173.00 per hour (As at September 2008). This amount is purely on the engine running time. The cost of the ground instruction is all included in this cost.
When you take an aircraft away for a day you only pay for the hours the engine has run for. To minimize your training costs during your first solo stage, it is highly recommended that you fly at least once a week.
Cost to full Price Pilots Licence $9,500 - $10,500
Included in the above cost are theory books, PPL exams, logbook, maps and navigational equipment.
It can take as long as you like, building from one lesson to the next, as finances allow. Flying weekly is the preferred option as you will learn faster and will minimize the total cost and take about 12 to 18 months to complete the licence.
